How Select Files and Folders in Windows 11

When working in Windows 11, there are some tips and tricks you might want to learn and know how to do right away. With a mouse, or a touch pad, selecting a file or folder may seem too easy and boring subject to write about. However, leaning these tips can help you with other tasks, like renaming, moving, deleting files and folders.

In Windows, to select a single file or folder, simply click on it or tab it on when using a touch screen. When you want to select multiple files and folder, hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard while you select each file or folder name.

 

 

While holding down the CTRL on your keyboard, each time you select a file or folder, it stays highlighted, and clicking next, and so forth. When done, all the selected files or folder should stay highlighted, read for the next action.

At this point, you can delete, move, copy and perform other basic tasks.

To select all files and folders, select the very top file or folder in the list, then hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard. While holding it down, select the very last file or folder. Doing this will also select everything in between.

You can also select all files and folder simply by pressing the CTRL + A key on your keyboard.
